FARGO, N.D. — A second week of dry weather is helping North Dakota farmers catch up on the delayed late-season harvest.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says in its latest crop and weather report that the sunflower harvest is now about one-fourth done and the corn harvest about half complete. Both still lag behind the average pace, however.
The flaxseed, soybean and dry edible bean harvests also are behind average, but they are now at least 90 percent compete.
North Dakota ranchers have been busy weaning and selling calves, moving livestock to harvested corn fields to graze and hauling hay to winter feeding areas.
