CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming FFA Association is collecting donations to help South Dakota ranchers whose cattle died in a blizzard earlier this month.

Local FFA chapters are dropping off collection cans at businesses throughout Wyoming.

The storm Oct. 4 to 7 dumped up to 4 feet of snow in places and killed 15,000 to 30,000 cattle. Wyoming FFA State Advisor Stacy Broda says some ranchers lost half of their herds.

The storm caused relatively little damage to cattle herds in Wyoming.

Donations from Wyoming will be collected through mid-November and delivered to the South Dakota Rancher Relief Fund. South Dakota sheep and cattle associations will administer the fund.
