Corn prices fell Tuesday, reversing a sharp gain from the day before. Other agricultural futures also fell, but not as much.
Corn for December delivery fell 7.50 cents to $4.4175 a bushel. The contract had jumped on Monday after weekend storms in the Midwest appeared to threaten the corn harvest.
December wheat slipped 1.25 cents to $6.935 a bushel, and November soybeans fell 7.75 cents to $12.8875 a bushel.
Energy prices rose moderately. November crude oil rose 46 cents to $103.49 a barrel.
Wholesale gasoline rose half a cent to $2.63 a gallon, heating oil rose 2 cents to $3.03 a gallon and natural gas rose 9 cents to $3.72 per 1,000 cubic feet.
In metals trading, December gold slipped 50 cents to $1,324.60 an ounce, December silver rose 5.7 cents to $22.443 an ounce, and copper edged down 0.4 cent to $3.2925 a pound.
January platinum rose $1.80 to $1,403.70 an ounce and December palladium rose $9.55 to $714.90 an ounce.
