PARKSTON, S.D. -- A semi hauling a load of hogs from Corsica, S.D., to Sioux City, Iowa, wrecked east of Parkston at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 13, killing about 30 hogs.

State Trooper Mark Nelson said driver Jeremy Tebben, 33, of Luverne, Minn., was driving east on state Highway 44 east of Parkston when he drove into the fog-filled James River valley about 13 miles east of town.

"The driver became disoriented in the fog and drove into the north ditch and rolled the truck onto its side," Nelson said.

Tebben was taken to Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

Nelson said the trailer was more seriously damaged than the 2003 Peterbilt semi. He estimated damages at $35,000.
