AFBF buys FarmFest

The annual Farmfest show has been purchased by the American Farm Bureau Federation, as the Cygnus Business Media agriculture group has sold its’ IDEAg group, which holds the event.

REDWOOD COUNTY, Minn. — The annual Farmfest show has been purchased by the American Farm Bureau Federation, as the Cygnus Business Media agriculture group has sold its’ IDEAg group, which holds the event.

This year’s Farmfest is Aug. 6 to 8 at the Gilfillan Estate, seven miles southeast of Redwood Falls, Minn., in Redwood County.

The event draws some 35,000 attendees and features more than 600 exhibitors. Amy LaTessa is the show director.

Farmfest show hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 6 and 7, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 8. Preregistration admission is $6 per person. On-site admission is $12 for adults over age 19, and free for those younger. Parking is free. No pets (other than approved service animals) are allowed. The physical address for GPS navigation is 28366 County Highway 13, Morgan, Minn..

Exhibits range from animal health, buildings, chemicals, communications, feed, fertilizer, financial services, equipment, loaders, parts, seed, tillage equipment, tractors and trucks.

The show includes numerous new product launches, big and small. Among the long-time exhibitors are Summers Manufacturing of Devils Lake, N.D., which will unveil a new rolling basket attachment for tillage equipment. The baskets have a new mud scraper feature to keep them working in wet conditions.

One highlight for this year’s show is the Wicks Buildings Farmfest Center, a 60-by-144-foot red and white structure that will hold forums and activities formerly held in the event’s Forum Tent.

Kent Thiesse, vice president of MinnStar Bank of Lake Crystal, Minn., again is coordinating educational and political forums.
