BISMARCK, N.D. — North Dakota Republican Sen. John Hoeven has been named to a conference committee that will try and negotiate an agreement on a 2013 farm bill.

Hoeven is a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee. He says Congress needs to get a long-term farm bill in place this fall.

The Senate voted in June to pass its version of the legislation. The House passed its bill last month. Now the two sides will work together on a final product.

The House has not named its conferees for the bill.

Hoeven says he plans to hold roundtables with agriculture groups in North Dakota later this month.
