Barlow is the leading spring wheat variety in North Dakota with more than 1 million acres planted statewide.

FARGO, N.D. — Barlow is the leading spring wheat variety in North Dakota with more than 1 million acres planted statewide.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, barlow accounts for 18 percent of 5.7 million acres of spring wheat planted in 2013.

Glenn ranks second with 10.1 percent, while SY Soren ranks third with 9.2 percent.

North Dakota continues to rank first in acres devoted to spring wheat planting in the United States. The state accounts for 46.3 percent of the nation's 12.3 million acres plants.
