Dianne Lechler said it didn’t take her long to respond to Carolyn Fenske’s request.
Fenske was asking if Lechler would design a commemorative quilt for a raffle drawing which is being used as a fundraiser for the 2010 Farm Technology Days (FTD) coming to Pierce County next summer.
“I think I would,” Lechler remembered saying, “And I told her I got a friend,” she added as Lechler pointed at Rachel Herbison.
Their design was unveiled Monday. It is set to the design of “Old Glory,” a pattern created by Barb Adams that Lechler found in a book.
Lechler estimated the pair spent about 75-80 hours on it, or about a month. She added that is machine washable and dried.
The quilt is the second prize in the raffle. The first is a restored 1949 McCormick Cub tractor or $2,000 cash. The remaining prizes are $500, $300 and $200 cash, respectively.
According to Greg Andrews, executive secretary for the FTD Executive Committee, the drawing is a separate, but significant part of their fundraising efforts. He said tickets are $5 or five for $20. They can be purchased from any executive committee member or committee chairman.
Farm Technology Days is July 20-22, 2010, at the Roger and Bev Peterson farm outside of River Falls.
