BISMARCK, N.D. — Roger Johnson has been re-elected president of the National Farmers Union.

The former North Dakota agriculture commissioner was first elected to head Farmers Union in 2009 when then-president Tom Buis stepped down with a year left on his two-year term to become CEO of an ethanol group.

Johnson is the only North Dakotan to ever serve as Farmers Union president. He will serve for another two years. He says it's a critical time for agriculture as Congress writes the 2012 farm bill.
