DAVIS, Calif. — Roundup Ready alfalfa was re-released in early 2011 after a lengthy review by USDA-APHIS, but has remained somewhat controversial in the public sphere. However, alfalfa hay growers often have been left out of this discussion.

A survey of alfalfa growers currently is being conducted on the issues associated with Roundup Ready Alfalfa to better understand grower experiences and current views of the technology. The survey will gather data from all alfalfa farmers, both those who have and those who have not grown Roundup Ready alfalfa, conventional, organic, export, or growers (small or large) who produce alfalfa for any purpose. The survey is not open to nongrowers.

All alfalfa growers are invited to take part in the Roundup Ready alfalfa survey.

The results will be published (with participant names kept confidential) at the Western Alfalfa and Forage Symposium (Dec. 11 to 13), posted online and emailed to participants. The survey will be closed Nov. 1.

The survey will only take about 15 minutes.
