BISMARCK, N.D. — Former U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan has been appointed to a seat on the board of directors for The Climate Corporation.

The North Dakota Democrat says he wants to be involved with the company's efforts to help farmers mitigate the financial effects of weather damage to their crops.

The Climate Corporation used to be known as WeatherBill. It offers weather insurance to complement federal crop insurance.

Dorgan did not seek re-election last year, after a Senate and House career that spanned 30 years.
