South Dakota corn, soybean estimates rise slightly

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The estimates of South Dakota's corn and soybean crops have risen slightly over the month.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The estimates of South Dakota's corn and soybean crops have risen slightly over the month.

The Agriculture Department says in its latest crop production report that South Dakota corn production is now expected to total 667.2 million bushels, up over the month just under 1 percent, and soybean production is pegged at 158 million bushels, up 3 percent from the September forecast.

Both crops are expected to be bigger than last year's, especially corn with a 17 percent jump. Production of sorghum, sunflowers and alfalfa hay also is up in South Dakota, while the dry edible bean crop is down.
