WATERLOO, Iowa — A Tyson Foods plant in Waterloo has been temporarily closed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

WATERLOO, Iowa — A Tyson Foods plant in Waterloo has been temporarily closed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The company said it hopes to resume operations by Thursday afternoon.

It's unclear what caused the shutdown. Associated Press calls to a company spokesman and to USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service representatives were not immediately returned.

The company website says the plant processes pork.

Tyson Foods is based in Springdale, Ark.
