HURON, S.D. — Attendance at the 126th annual South Dakota State Fair was up 8 percent from the previous year. It was the fifth straight year of an increase.

Fair Manager Jerome Hertel attributes the attendance figure of 191,158 people to hard work and good weather. He says increases were posted in major revenue areas such as camping, carnival and admissions.

The attendance during the fair's five-day run in Huron early this month was up nearly 27 percent from 2007.
