FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — There's a beefy agenda at the Minnesota State Fair.
The 4-H Beef Championship Event is set for 4 p.m. Friday in the Coliseum. It includes selection of the grand and reserve champions. State 4-H Beef Show Coordinator Kent Thiesse says it will represent the “best of the best” from the nearly 600 4-H members exhibiting beef projects at this year's fair.
The Purple Ribbon 4-H Livestock Auction is set for 6 p.m. Saturday in the Livestock Judging Arena. About 90 purple ribbon-winning animals will be sold. Twenty $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to outstanding 4-H junior leaders. Twenty percent of the auction proceeds fund special 4-H programs during the year.
Over 2,500 4-H members are exhibiting beef, dairy, swine, sheep, poultry, rabbits and goats at the fair through Sunday.
