PIERRE, S.D. — A sunflower processing plant has opened in the northeastern South Dakota town of Redfield.
Minnesota-based Anderson Seed Co. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday. Officials estimate the plant will create 34 jobs. Gov. Dennis Daugaard says the plant also will provide a new opportunity for farmers and help the state's economy.
Construction on the $3 million plant began last fall. It has a capacity of 260,000 bushels.
