FARGO, N.D. — Winter wheat acres have remained stable in North Dakota.

FARGO, N.D. — Winter wheat acres have remained stable in North Dakota.

The Agriculture Department on Wednesday estimated plantings last fall in the state at 340,000 acres, up slightly from the 2010 crop of 330,000 acres.

Winter wheat is a minor crop in North Dakota, which leads the nation in the production of spring wheat.

Nationwide, winter wheat plantings are estimated at 41 million acres, up 10 percent over the year.
