Nebraska’s fall harvest nearly complete

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska’s corn and sorghum harvests are nearly complete.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Monday that 99 percent of both the corn and sorghum crops had been harvested.

Both crops are well ahead of average for this time of year. Normally, about 86 percent of the corn and 87 percent of the sorghum have been harvested by now.

The state’s winter wheat crop continues to lag behind normal. The USDA says 45 percent of the winter wheat is in good or excellent condition. Normally, about 69 percent of the winter wheat crop is in good shape.
