CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The state has completed testing of 12 cattle herds in northern Wyoming for the livestock disease brucellosis.

State Veterinarian Jim Logan says testing was completed Monday and he expects results any day now.

A dozen herds altogether have been quarantined in Park County after brucellosis was found in cows belonging to a single herd.

Brucellosis can cause spontaneous abortions, infertility, decreased milk production and weight loss in cattle, elk, bison and other mammals.

More than 3,000 cattle have been tested altogether. Results from tests on about half the cattle so far have found no new cases.
