ND corn, sunflower harvests wrapping up

FARGO, N.D. — The corn and sunflower harvests remain ahead of the average pace in North Dakota, despite wet field conditions in some areas over the past week.

FARGO, N.D. — The corn and sunflower harvests remain ahead of the average pace in North Dakota, despite wet field conditions in some areas over the past week.

The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop and weather report that the corn for grain harvest is 95 percent complete and the sunflower harvest 88 percent done.

Farmers also are at work tilling fields and applying fertilizer. Ranchers are moving cattle, weaning calves and hauling hay in preparation for winter.

The report says pasture and range conditions are rated 62 percent good to excellent, and stockwater supplies are 96 percent adequate to surplus.
