ND soybean crop still expected to be record size

FARGO, N.D. — The estimate of the North Dakota soybean crop has dropped slightly over the month but production still is expected to be a record.

FARGO, N.D. — The estimate of the North Dakota soybean crop has dropped slightly over the month but production still is expected to be a record.

The Agriculture Department pegs the crop at 146 million bushels, down 3 percent from the October forecast but up 26 percent from last year.

The corn crop estimate dropped 2 percent from last month but still is up 25 percent over the year, to 249 million bushels.

North Dakota lentil production also is projected to be a record, at 3.89 million hundredweight, up 52 percent from last year’s record.

Dry edible pea production is estimated at 8.22 million hundredweight, down 29 percent from last year’s record. Potatoes are at 22.3 million hundredweight, up 16 percent.
