Kansas corn harvest expects to be low

Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service says average corn yields will be down almost 8 bushels per acre compared to the forecast just a month ago.
This year's corn crop had been expected to set a new record. But it's now expected to be second best. That was enough to boost prices by 30 cents a bushel Friday when the report was issued.
The Hays Daily News reports that the forecast is now that Kansas corn production will total 585 million bushels. That's 13.3 million bushels below last year's corn harvest.
