ND mill to sell white whole wheat, organic flours
BISMARCK, N.D. — Two new types of flour from North Dakota’s state-owned mill are expected to start showing up in grocery stores in September.
BISMARCK, N.D. — Two new types of flour from North Dakota’s state-owned mill are expected to start showing up in grocery stores in September.
Mill manager Vance Taylor says the all-purpose organic flour and white whole wheat flour will be sold in 5-pound bags.
The mill already sells whole wheat flour made from hard red spring wheat. Taylor says the white whole wheat flour has a milder flavor and is popular with children.
Sales of “family flour” and other grocery store products make up 2 percent of the mill’s business, and organic flour accounts for close to 1 percent. Taylor says both segments are growing.
