Olympic gold medalist to promote corn in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. — An Olympic gold medalist from Nebraska will be carrying the torch for the state’s most common crop.

LINCOLN, Neb. — An Olympic gold medalist from Nebraska will be carrying the torch for the state’s most common crop.

Curt Tomasevicz will help promote corn for the Nebraska Corn Board during events this summer. Events he is expected to attend include the Nebraska State Fair and Husker Harvest Days.

Tomasevicz was on the four-man bobsled team that won gold at the 2010 Winter Olympics. It was the first gold for the U.S. in sliding’s signature race since 1948.

Tomasevicz is from Shelby and played football for the Huskers from 2000 to 2003.

He is currently living and training in Colorado Springs, Colo.
