LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska’s farmers were busy in their fields last week, applying herbicides and harvesting hay and wheat.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday in its weekly Nebraska weather and crops report that rain in many parts of the state Sunday slowed some of the work.

As of Sunday, about 13 percent of the state’s wheat has been harvested, compared with 24 percent average by this date. The USDA says 69 percent of the wheat crop was rated good or excellent.

Roughly 83 percent of the state’s corn crop was rated in good or excellent condition.
