SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota soybean growers looking to increase their yields could win up to $1,000 for their efforts.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota soybean growers looking to increase their yields could win up to $1,000 for their efforts.

The South Dakota Soybean Association and South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council has kicked off a soybean yield contest with cash prizes for best yield performance in 12 categories.

Association president Chris Fischbach says he hopes the contest will encourage the development and use of new and innovative management practices among other soybean producers.

Entries will be grouped by soybean maturity and subdivided into three groups: irrigated, non-irrigated and no-till.

Because of the unusually wet season, the deadline for sending completed contest entry forms has been extended to Aug. 20.
