Warm weather in Upper Peninsula hurts potato crop
SAGOLA, Mich. — Recent warm temperatures in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula have brought dry conditions that are hurting the potato crop.
SAGOLA, Mich. — Recent warm temperatures in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula have brought dry conditions that are hurting the potato crop.
Dale Johnson of Johnson’s Potato Farm in Sagola tells WLUC-TV that the unusually warm weather and a lack of precipitation has made it difficult to plant. And he says it’s taking longer for plants to grow.
Johnson’s potatoes are sold to major fast food companies. He’s hopeful that rain will im-prove the conditions.
