Flash flooding hits parts of southeast North Dakota

BISMARCK, N.D. — Heavy rains have led to overland flooding in parts of southeast North Dakota.

BISMARCK, N.D. — Heavy rains have led to overland flooding in parts of southeast North Dakota.

The National Weather Service says as much as 6 inches of rain fell in some parts of Steele, Barnes and Cass counties in a 24-hour period. Water blocked or washed out some roads and bridges.

Page-area farmer Greg Satrom says half of his corn crop was washed away, and he had to use sandbags to protect his home. The golf course in Hope also was heavily damaged.

The weather service says heavy rain in northwest Minnesota also might push the Red River to flood stage in the upper part of the valley later in the week.
