Wisconsin’s agricultural exports up 18 percent

MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Jim Doyle says agricultural exports from Wisconsin are up 18 percent compared with the first three months of 2009.

MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Jim Doyle says agricultural exports from Wisconsin are up 18 percent compared with the first three months of 2009.

A report released Thursday by the governor’s office shows that ag exports totaled nearly $450 million for the first quarter of the year. Wisconsin’s dairy exports ranked third nationwide behind only California and Washington.

The report shows that the category that includes dairy, eggs and honey led Wisconsin’s export growth, gaining 51 percent over last year. It is valued at $48 million.

Wisconsin’s agricultural exports total about $59 billion a year.
