RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services says it has a few questions for farmers.
The agency says it’s annual surveys are starting up in June. The agency uses the information to estimate production and supply of major commodities.
Official Herman Ellison says the surveys give the agency a better picture of how things are shaping up for the agricultural sector.
The agency conducts two surveys. One targets randomly selected tracts of land, where growers are asked a series of questions. The other targets producers by mail, phone and in person.
