JAMESTOWN, N.D. — The North Dakota Farmers Union is bringing a delegation from Japan’s largest farm organization to the state.
Eight people with the JA-ZENCHU organization were to meet on Wednesday with Farmers Union leaders, tour the state Capitol and Heritage Center and also a ranch.
Farmers Union President Robert Carlson says the delegation’s goal is to better understand how a farm organization operates in a two-party political system.
JA-ZENCHU is the leader of Japan’s agricultural cooperative movement. It has 9 million members — 4 million active farmers and 5 million consumers.
