SARANAC, Mich. — Eight Michigan egg farmers are preparing and donating more than a half-million eggs to feed Haiti earthquake victims.

The farmers from across the state on Thursday will take the 576,000 eggs to Herbrucks Poultry Ranch in the Ionia County community of Saranac, about 20 miles east of Grand Rapids. There, the eggs will be cracked and the liquid chilled.

About 48,000 pounds of egg liquid will be pumped into trucks and sent to Iowa, where it will be dried and flown to Haiti.

The effort is part of the national Good Egg Project, which is donating more than 3 million eggs to Feed the Children’s Haitian relief efforts.
