Driver escapes injury in beet truck accident

Sugar beet truck driver suffered minor injury when the truck rolled into a ditch just after midnight Monday about three miles west of Crookston.

A driver of a sugar beet truck suffered a minor abrasion after the truck rolled into a ditch just after midnight on Polk County Road 9 about three miles west of Crookston, the Polk County Sheriff's Department said.

The westbound truck came upon a tractor cleaning mud off the roadway at 12:20 a.m. The truck driver swerved as the tractor was pulling over to the shoulder. The beet truck tipped onto the passenger side and slid into the north ditch.

Names of the drivers are not being released at this time. The accident remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
