Horsemenship skills demonstrated in 4-H competition

The Triple “C” 4-H club held their successful annual Open Horse Show on Sunday, May 11, at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo, with almost 300 entries participating.

The Triple “C” 4-H club held their successful annual Open Horse Show on Sunday, May 11, at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo, with almost 300 entries participating.

Competitors represented all age levels in a variety of categories including: 12 and under walk trot, 12 and under, 13-18, 19 and over, plus some 13 and over walk trot classes. The events include showmanship, bareback equitation, leadline (6 and under) horsemanship, western pleasure, trail, English pleasure, egg and spoon, barrels, pole bending, keyhole, flag race, and figure eight.

The winner of every class received a trophy and a gift certificate to a horse related Web site, and those placing two to six received ribbons.

Door prizes were also presented to everyone that entered.

Proceeds from the show will go to the Triple “C” 4-H club.
