Early farmer’s market at Red Barn

Cottage Grove resident Jim Janssen sits behind his homemade salsa, jams and jellies for sale from 4 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday in the parking lot of the Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752 Red Barn, 9260 East Point Douglas Road. He makes it himself and is especially proud of hs apple cinnamon jelly, which won first place at the state fair. “It may be early for a market,” said organizer Lorraine Brown, “but we want people to put us on their calendar.
