FARGO — This year's dry edible pea crop in North Dakota is down slightly, but lentil acres have tied a record high.

The Agriculture Department says North Dakota farmers planted 510,000 acres of peas, down from 520,000 acres last year, and 160,000 acres of lentils, up from last year's 95,000 acres.

The lentil acreage ties the state record set in 2006.

Nationwide, dry edible pea acres are almost unchanged from last year, at 880,700. Lentil acres are up 51 percent to 410,000 acres.
