North Dakota may soon be able to confirm its own cases of swine flu.

Probable state cases now must be confirmed by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. North Dakota's state epidemiologist, Kirby Kruger, says the state is getting equipment to do the confirmations in its own lab. He hopes it will be ready by mid-June.

North Dakota has reported no cases so far that require hospitalization.

The latest suspected case to be reported is in Minot. Health officials there say a student at Minot High School's Magic City Campus has a probable case of swine flu and is recovering at home.
