ND farmers market guide enhanced

North Dakota’s Agriculture Department has beefed up its annual guide to farmers markets and produce growers around the state.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s Agriculture Department has beefed up its annual guide to farmers markets and produce growers around the state.

Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring (GOHR’-ing) says the guide is now a local food directory. He says it lists not only vegetable and fruit sellers but also producers of products including eggs, jams and jellies, and beef, goat, lamb and poultry products.

The free directory lists more than 150 farmers markets, roadside stands, pick-your-own gardens and home delivery produce operations. Goehring says the new directory also has a harvest calendar developed by North Dakota State University to help consumers determine the best times to buy locally grown vegetables, fruits and bedding plants.
