VOLTAIRE, N.D.
McHenry County authorities say two men and a boy have been arrested in the theft of more than 3,000 bushels of grain at a Voltaire elevator.
The sheriff's department says the grain is valued at about $30,000.
Deputy Trey Skager says 22-year-old Caleb Pister and 19-year-old Levi Heil of the Velva area, along with a 17-year-old boy, have been charged with theft of property.
Skager says the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation was asked to help with the case. He says authorities are looking into other grain thefts as well.
Skager said the suspects apparently went to the elevator in the middle of the night. He says that while the grain was being transferred from bin to bin, they powered up augers and transferred the grain into their own trucks.
