Corn farmers to be resurveyed

The U.S. Department of Agriculture plans to resurvey some corn producers in North Dakota and South Dakota because of the weather-delayed fall harvest.

FARGO (AP) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture plans to resurvey some corn producers in North Dakota and South Dakota because of the weather-delayed fall harvest.

Some farmers in both states still are working to harvest fields they could not get into because of wet weather late last year, when USDA was compiling data for its annual crop production summary.

USDA said it might publish updated estimates for 2009 corn acreage, yield, production and stocks in both states after it resurveys farmers who previously reported unharvested acres.

Any updates would be published in the May 11 crop production report.
