POP CULTURE ON THE PLAINS: Time magazine visits Red River Valley Churches
Pop Culture on the Plains reports on a Time magazine video about vanishing pastors on the prairies.
By Paulette Tobin
When Time magazine -- or any other national media -- covers anything in the Red River Valley, it's usually because of an act of God. You know -- a blizzard, a flood, a tornado.
Today, Time magazine has a video story on its Web site called "Vanishing pastors on the prairie," a story that's about God and a kind of cultural calamity for many communities in the Red River Valley today. It's a report on the fading of rural churches, and the number of pastors serving multiple congregations, that's a result of fewer farms, declining population and falling church attendance.
