No injuries were reported when a semi tractor and trailer collided with a Red River Valley & Western Train, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 4:40 p.m. Thursday on LaMoure County Road 163, about 1 1/2 miles north of N.D. Highway 13.

The patrol said Jason Wald, no age available, Berlin, N.D., was driving a 1996 Peterbilt pulling a 1994 Timpte trailer loaded with corn, southbound on County Road 163. At the intersection with the railroad tracks, vision to the west was blocked by a farmstead and a row of trees. The patrol said the operators of the truck and train didn’t see each other until it was too late. The train struck the semi tractor behind the front tire, totaling the tractor but not damaging the trailer.

The Red River Valley & Western train was traveling from Edgeley, N.D., to Breckenridge, Minn., the patrol said. The Peterbilt was traveling from Edgeley to LaMoure.

No seat belts were in use, the patrol said. Damage was estimated at $1,000 to the train and the semi tractor was totaled.
