11/4/2009   •   12:00 AM   •   (605) 425-2242

A series of educational programs for women who ranch and farm is set to start on Oct. 20 in Brookings. The meeting is a part of the Sustainable Annie’s Systems in South Dakota for Years to Come, or SASSY, and is part of the Annie’s Project program, designed to deliver business training to women who work on farms and ranches. The Oct. 20 meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Days Inn Brookings, 2500 E. Sixth St. The meeting includes an evening meal, with the program starting at 6 p.m. South Dakota Cooperative Extension Marketing/Farm Business Management Educator Heather Gessner, who is organizing the meeting, said it would be the first in a series. Sessions after the Oct. 20 meeting include ones on Nov. 3, Nov. 17, Dec. 1, and Dec. 15. Topics for the sessions are geared towards the needs and interests of the participants in the areas of marketing, finances, and operation sustainability. The cost is $50 per person for all five sessions.
